Leonard began his career early in life, as a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He served families at the Nelson Funeral Home in Park Ridge from 1985 until 2013.


From 2009 through 2014, Leonard served on the Illinois Funeral Directors Association board and was president in 2012. From 2010 to 2021 he was president of the Cook County Funeral Directors Association and is now past-president. Currently, he has membership in the following organizations:

  • Northlake Area Kiwanis (President - Elect)
  • Des Plaines Elks Lodge
  • River Park Moose Lodge - River Grove
  • Knights of Columbus - Cardinal Cody Council # 8070 (at St. John Vianney Church, Northlake)


As an industry trade funeral director with an acquired embalming skill, from 2013 to 2020, Leonard assisted colleagues with their funeral homes along with serving families that sought him out.


In June 2020, Leonard was able to acquire Northlake Funeral Home, a 50 year business owned by the Connell Family. 


It is here, he continues to serve the needs of the community and has access to venues/funeral homes throughout the entire Chicagoland area.
