Theresa Viola-Zimmerman

WOOD DALE—Theresa Viola-Zimmerman born November 18, 1952 passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

Teri was one of twelve Viola children, mother of two, grandmother of two. She loved the music of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, working out to Jane Fonda, and dancing whenever she had the chance. From the mountains of Colorado to walking around the local forest preserves, and from camping to gardening, she always found the most peace enjoying nature with anyone she could share it with. Despite her joyous personality, she was a quiet person with her friends and family. She was known for sitting in the background and watching her loved ones without stepping into the spotlight herself, but her smile never failed to light up a room and always drew others to her so that she was rarely alone for long. After graduating from Loyola University, Teri became a nurse and later provided in-home healthcare for children and worked as a hospice nurse, dedicating her life to helping those in pain. She always loved what she did, and always seemed to know exactly what to do and say to help those around her smile. Whether she was arguing over furniture placement with her husband Bob, listening to her children, Bobby and Danielle, recap their days to her, or watching her grandsons Paxton and Parker playing, every day of her life was filled with the love of her family, and their lives were always filled by hers. Through her work, her family, her religion, and her relationship with nature, Teri spent her life in search of peace. Though her family and friends will never stop missing her warmth and free spirit, they will always cherish the peace she brought to their lives and are comforted knowing that she has finally found hers.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; children: Bobby (Leah) Zimmerman, Danielle (Ryan) Johnson; grandchildren: Paxton Johnson, and Parker Johnson; Siblings, Michael (Rosette), Tommy (Teresa), Margie, Aggie (Armond), Mary Jo, Cathy (Roy), Tony (Julie), and Joe (Annie). Predeceased by her parents Sam and Agnes; her son Samuel Zimmerman, and her siblings, Johnny, Gina, and Anthony.

Funeral Mass will be held at St John Vianney Church in Northlake, IL at 10am on Friday April 23rd, 2021.
