Robert Pollitt Obituary

Robert L Pollitt passed on 1/28/23 at the age of 92 at a nursing facility after suffering from dementia.

He was born to Raymond Pollitt & Mabel Reynolds-Pollitt on June 6, 1931. He grew up in Chicago, IL with his 7 siblings, Raymond, Mabel, Joyce, Alice, Ruth, William and Barbara. He was the youngest child of his siblings. He attended and graduated from Washburne Trade School in Chicago, IL.

He married Virginia D. Reese on 12/29/52. He joined the U.S. Army on 1/7/53, and served for 2 years and he received an Honorable Discharge. His only child was born 2/23/53, Virginia (Ginny) D. Pollitt-Rios-Puentes. He worked at Danly Machine in Cicero, IL for the majority of his working life, doing welding and related assignments. He retired from Danly Machine in June 1996. He often maintained a second job throughout his life to provide for his Wife and Daughter. He was always a devoted Son, Sibling, Husband, Father and Grandfather. He lost his Wife in November 2011 after being married for almost 60 years.

He is survived by his only child, Ginny/Virginia, Son-In-Law, Michael Puentes, one Grandson, Wit Rios, one Great Grandson, Sam Rios, Wife of Wil Rios, Christina Carter-Rios, and a Mother of Great Grandson, Karina Feldman-Brown.

Robert (Bob) L. Pollitt was always a very hardworking man. He was very dedicated to his Wife, Daughter, Grandson and Great Grandson. He was a huge sports enthusiast, baseball (White Sox Fan), football, hockey, etc. He was an excellent bowler and bowled on a league for many years, (as a lefty he had a perfect curve) and he was also a very talented pool player. John Wayne was his favorite actor, and in later years he became a big fan of Johnny Depp.

Anyone who knew Bob Pollitt loved him. He was an introvert for the most part. He was loyal and dedicated to everyone in his life. He was a very selfless man who never asked for much for himself. He always wanted to make sure everyone around him always had what they needed. He was a humble man with tremendous inner strength, he was not boastful, except when he spoke of his Daughter, Grandson, and Great Grandson. He was always extremely loving and kind, and children were often drawn to him due to his calm nature. He was definitely a person you would want to emulate. He was the blueprint for the best of the best.
