Philip Romashko Obituary

Philip Anthony Romashko, 79 of Glen Ellyn, IL passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 after a long courageous battle with illness at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital.  Philip was born to Nicholas & Frances Romashko of Chicago, IL.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the height of the Vietnam War from 1966-1972.  As a young man he acquired many skills working for various employers throughout Chicagoland, including Motorola, various lighting galleries and tree nurseries. Later, Phil started his own successful business, Fan Service Company of Northern Illinois, where he installed, repaired, and refurbished Casablanca ceiling fans.  He ended his long work career at United Airlines, serving Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Philip was very compassionate who put everyone's needs above his own. Many times extending his friendship and compassion to those in need.  Phil always loved cutting the grass. It was one of his favorite pastimes during the summer, sometimes he would even cut his neighbor's yards.  Never missing the opportunity to get a hot dog (double dawg) from his longtime favorite place, Gene & Jude's, he would extend that joy to all those who joined him.

Philip is the beloved companion of Carol Romashko (nee Gill); dear father of Jason (Michelle) Romashko and Jennifer Springmire (nee Romashko); cherished grandfather of Joseph Lutz, Justin Lutz and Brixton Romashko; fond brother of Ronald (Carolyn) Romashko, Nick (Nancy) Romashko, Sylvia (late Gary) Courtney and former sister-in-law Paulette Romashko; and loving uncle and friend to many.  He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Roklin Romashko, brother-in-law Gary Courtney and niece Renee Romashko. He will be missed very much.
