Leo A. Van De Zande, 94, of Addison, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2022. Many will remember Leo for his love of the US Marine Corp and how honored he was to serve his country. He was also proud to be a Lieutenant at the Addison Fire Department, retiring in 1990 after 26 years of service to the community.
Leo is the loving husband of Rose Mary, dear father of Frank, Paul (Tony), Susan, and Denise, cherished grandfather of Zachary, Angela, Cody, Makayla, and Sierra, beloved great-grandfather of Frankie and Cameron.
Leo was a devoted family man and loved Rose Mary beyond words. They always held hands when they walked together, even after 69 years of marriage. He was proud of his children’s successes, his great bowling scores, and the hole-in-one he got once on the golf course. In his retirement years, he and Rose Mary enjoyed taking bus trips across the country where they explored new sights and made many friends. They loved square-dancing often and participated in dancing exhibitions at many events. Leo will be remembered for his love and laughter, his unfailing work ethic, his friendliness towards all, and his endless generosity.
