Visitation for Mrs. Ruth Velez is Friday, February 26, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Northlake Funeral Home. Service Saturday morning at 11 a.m, also at the funeral home. Interment Fairview Memorial Park.

Ruth was a lunch lady for some 28 years at Yates Elementary School, in Chicago until her retirement. She can be best described as loving and caring, helping unconditionally. She was particularly skilled at spoiling her grandchildren and great-granchildren.

Ruth is survived by her children, Anselmo, Elsa and Debbie; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was one of 8 siblings (6 boys, 3 girls) of whom her brother, Mike survives. She was preceded in death also, by her husband Miguel in 2001 and son, Peter in 2013.
