Ronald Edward Murtaugh, 94 longtime resident of Northlake, passed away July 23, 2022. Ron was born in Chicago to Joseph and Grace Murtaugh. He was a graduate of Schurz High School. Later he met Virginia, the love of his life and they married in 1950. They had 3 children. Ron worked hard all his life and retired from West Leyden High School as a head custodian and bus driver. Later in life after Virginia died, he found comfort and companionship by joining Old Glory Lodge #141 A.F.& A.M., the Shiners and Scottish Rite. Ron is the beloved husband of the late Virginia; dear father of George (Mary Kay), Jack and late Nancy; loving grandfather of Matt, Mark (Bryana) and Katie (Tom); fond brother of Gene (Mary), late Sandy (late Wayne) and late Linda (late Jessie); fond uncle of Kathy (Jeff), Joe (Donna), Geno (Cary), Cheryl (Matt), Cindy (Mike), Frankie and Karen (Vern); also friend of many.

Visitation Thursday July, 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Masonic Service 7:00 p.m. under auspices of Old Glory Lodge) at Northlake Funeral Home 140 E. North Ave., Northlake. Funeral Service Friday 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
