Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Haack

July 5, 1938 – September 10, 2026

Robert Haack, 88, of Cicero, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of family memories and a life well lived. To his family and those who knew him best, he was simply Bobby.

Born on July 5, 1938, in Chicago, Robert grew up with the kind of grit that would define him for the rest of his days. He attended Harrison High School before answering the call to service. At just 16, he gave an older age and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, as many determined young men of his generation did. It was the first of many chapters that showed just how much heart and determination lived inside his lean frame. Robert served with distinction, rising to the rank of Corporal and serving as a member of the Color Guard, a role well suited to the pride and discipline he brought to his service.

No matter where the Marine Corps stationed him, Bobby made sure his family knew he was thinking of them — sending gifts home from wherever he landed, a small but steady reminder that distance never dimmed his devotion to the people he loved.

Robert was a man of few words, never one for long stories or big speeches. He showed his love in quieter ways — like showing up to family functions with a bag full of candy, dropping it in the midst of his nieces and nephews, and watching the joy unfold without needing to say much at all. That was Uncle Bobby: steady, understated, and endlessly generous with the people he loved.

Life wasn't always easy for him. Robert weathered his share of rough patches over the years, but he faced them with the same quiet determination that carried him through his years of service, and he came out the other side. He also cared for his mother, Mildred, while she lived with him, a testament to the loyalty and devotion that shaped his life in everything he did.

He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Carol Kotlarz and Karen Schroeder, who will forever hold his memory close. He is now reunited with the family that went before him. His parents, Arthur and Mildred Haack, and his siblings Violet Bartlett, Alice Haack, Shirley Kramer, Arthur Haack, and Richard Haack.

Bobby's life is a reminder that love doesn't need many words — sometimes it's a gift sent from far away, a bag of candy, and a lifetime of showing up for the people who mattered most.

Semper Fi, Bobby. Rest peacefully, Marine. Your duty is complete and your service is honored. A job well done.
