Marty had a rough start in life with a club foot and a lot of time in Shriners Hospital. He dealt with that but had issues with it all his life. He showed his brothers the way through Boy Scouts attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and On to Sea Explorers. Being the eldest brother he made a lot of mistakes first that showed the rest what would happen if they screwed up.
Marty had many many jobs including pizza delivery for Q’s pizza to working at an investment firm until he got hooked on being an electrician, 40 years ago. He really loved animals. His indoor and outdoor cats, squirrels and all other critters benefited by gourmet leftovers each and every day. He also loved old westerns on tv, black and white was best.
In the last 8 years Marty has not been able to travel. He had a special love for Monterey California, where he visited numerous times to visit Debbie’s Grandma. He’s enjoyed All Inclusive’s in Mexico multiple times, also an Alaskan Cruise where their renewed their wedding vows for their 25th anniversary as well as his love for Wisconsin. He loved to entertain the children like throwing quarters in the pools for them to dive for.
Marty was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2020. He fought cancer for 6 years before losing his battle on Thursday, May 28th 3 months exactly short of their 50 th wedding anniversary August 28 and 5 months exactly short of his 72nd birthday October 28th. I guess 28 was his number. Debbie, Teri, and Sue worked hard to make him comfortable in his final week.
His pain is over and now his dad is yelling at him for something, Mom will have a list of things she needs and I am sure Zac was waiting to introduce him to Lil Walty.
Here’s to Marty on his final journey.
