Johnny Lee
Webb
April 19, 2026
Johnny Lee Webb, Sr., a devoted husband, proud veteran, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 84 years old.
Johnny was born on March 20, 1942, in Pine Knob, West Virginia, to Braden and Sylvia (Vealey) Webb. He carried his Appalachian roots with pride throughout his life, embodying strength, resilience, and a deep love for family.
On October 29, 1966, Johnny married the love of his life, Peggy (Milam) Webb. Together, they built a life grounded in unwavering love and partnership, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary later this year—a testament to their enduring bond.
Johnny proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade, known as the "Sky Soldiers." He was among the first group of soldiers to parachute into Vietnam. As part of the artillery unit, he operated howitzer cannons and earned the rank of Corporal before completing his military service.
Following his military service, Johnny dedicated 35 years of hard work to Duo-Fast, where he served as a second shift supervisor, overseeing more than 100 employees. He was respected for his leadership, work ethic, and the genuine care he showed toward those he worked alongside.
Beyond his career, Johnny found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid CB and HAM radio enthusiast, often spending late nights connecting with people across the country—and sometimes around the world. He took great pride in those connections and loved sharing stories of the distant places he could reach.
In the last year of his life, Johnny's sweet tooth became something of a family adventure. He would often send his loved ones on lighthearted searches for his favorite treats—Crunch 'n Munch, chocolate covered cherries, old-fashioned peppermint sticks, and more—bringing smiles and laughter to those moments.
Johnny's greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. He was their protector, their cheerleader, and their constant source of love. Known affectionately as his family's "Superman," Johnny was always there with a helping hand or a warm hug. He had a generous spirit and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His courage extended beyond the battlefield—most notably when he once rescued a woman from a flipped vehicle, pulling her to safety moments before it caught fire.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; his children, twin sons Dr. John (Leslie) Webb and Dr. James (Julie) Webb, and his daughter Carrie (Jerry) Kallhoff; his grandchildren Ryan (Bre) Webb, Riley Webb, Rianna Webb, Reganne Webb, Nicolas Webb, Nathaniel Webb, Gabriela Webb, Gracie Webb, Tyler Kallhoff, and Amber Kallhoff; and his great-granddaughter Raelynn Vecchione. He is also survived by his siblings Karen Anselmo and James Webb.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Betty Brooks, Shirley Wuerfel, and Bonnie Jarrell; his father-in-law James Milam Sr.; his mother-in-law Bertha Milam; and his brother-in-law James Milam Jr.
Johnny lived life with heart, humor, and grit. His favorite saying, "kick ass," reflected his spirited approach to life—face challenges head-on, love fiercely, and never back down.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) in Johnny's memory, honoring his service and sacrifice.
Johnny's legacy is one of courage, kindness, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
