Obituary

Joanne Darlene Chodorowski, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer on May 16, 2026 at the age of 76, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 15, 1949, in Chicago to Walter and Jean Zurawski, Joanne lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and compassion. She shared nearly 54 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dave; whose love, companionship, and steadfast support were her strength through every season of life.

She was the cherished mother of Lisa Kirk (Paul) and David (Danielle), and the proud and loving grandmother of eleven grandchildren; Christopher, Emma, David Peter, Claire, Alaina, Joseph, Ethan, Paul, Virginia, Elizabeth and Genevieve; each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. Nothing made her happier than gathering her family together—praying the family rosary, celebrating the holidays, sharing vacations, fishing from a pontoon boat, and taking her grandchildren to Disney, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

A devout Catholic, Joanne was a faithful and active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Northlake. For more than 20 years, she led the Monday night Holy Rosary prayer group, offering spiritual encouragement and strength to all who attended. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to God and to Our Blessed Mother were an inspiration to everyone blessed to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Diane (Tom), along with many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jean, and her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, and Faith.

May she rest in the peace of Christ.
