Frank J. Malec

Frank J. Malec, age 98, was called home on March 19, 2018 after a wonderfully long life.  He was born in Chicago on May 6, 1919 and was married to his beloved Ellen (nee Dams) for 53 years, who preceded him in death in 2003. Frank and Ellen resided in Bellwood for many years where they raised their family. In recent years he lived in Wheaton with his devoted caretaker, daughter Marlene, where he was frequently visited by grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Mary (nee Czekaj) and John. Brother of the late Florence (Leo) Felckowski. Dear father of Richard (the late Karen) and Marlene DeStefano.  Devoted grandfather of Katy (Chris) McKie, Claire (Russell) Edwards, Megan (Evan) Garvey, Annie (Mike) Smith and Mike (Kelly) Malec. Great grandfather of Kyrie, Aubrey, Luke and Olivia. Uncle of Judy (the late Phil) Corrigan, Mary Ann (Jerry) Snick, Ken (Helen) Fuesz, Wally (Tina) Felckowski and many more cousins. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Friday March 23, 2018 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1451 Bode Road, Schaumburg, IL 60194. Interment St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery with military honors accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Inc. 433 S. Carlton Avenue, Wheaton, Illinois, 60187 appreciated.
