Arthur was born in Chicago but lived in Northlake for over 70 yrs. He met his wife Dee in HS and married at 19 when he got out of the Air Force. They were married for 67 years and lived in the same house for 56 years. He worked in the automotive industry his entire life. He even owned a repair shop with his brother-in-law in his 20's and eventually retired after 20 yrs as a plant manager of the largest transmission parts distributor in the U.S. at the time. In his early years he enjoyed working on and racing cars/motorcycles. He later became a great bowler with 2 perfect 300 games. He bowled 2-3 times a week with his wife for many years. He was also an avid professional-level gambler for over 30 years. They travelled to Vegas for over 40 years – and went every 3-4 months for many of them. In retirement, he created a website for odds on Draw Poker machines that was used by many of the professional gamblers he knew. Once he and his wife stopped traveling to Vegas, they would drive to Indiana once a week for an afternoon till they were near 80. In the last years, he still enjoyed tinkering on his computer, going out for weekly dinners, going to the casino every few months and watching all the old movies.
Visitation for Mr. Arthur Harris will be Friday, May 1, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Northlake Funeral Home. Funeral Service Saturday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal Service with Burial will be at Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside.
