Ana Mirian Rodriguez (née Alfonso), age 85, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025 in Naperville, Illinois.

Born on September 7, 1939 in Cayo Mambí, Cuba, Ana Mirian was the daughter of Luis and Esperanza Alfonso. From a young age, she embraced the role of a devoted older sister and carried that sense of responsibility and care throughout her life. Her early years were marked by a deep commitment to family—a value that remained central to her identity.

After immigrating to the United States in 1965, Ana Mirian exemplified resilience and determination. She began working in manufacturing and later transitioned into healthcare facility maintenance. Her strong work ethic and leadership led her to be an exemplary employee at Elmhurst Hospital, where she served with pride until her retirement. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family and friends.

Ana Mirian was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. Alexander's Church in Villa Park, Illinois. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and provided strength throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving sister Esperanza Martinez (Armando); her children Ana Trudeau (Jeff Bakes), Sonia Diakoumis (Andy), and Luis Rodriguez (Jodi Hoare); grandchildren Annie Cue (Dennis), Frank Camacho, Lisette Carrera (John Marquez), Elizabeth Verges (Larry Hightower), Marissa Cantu (Steve), Jenna Morin, Gabriella Rodriguez and Gia Rodriguez (their mother Mena Rodriguez). Her Godchildren: niece Alina Gonzalez and nephew Luis Sanchez. And ten cherished great-grandchildren: Ryan, Jonathan, Enrique, Oliver, Sofia, Anthony, Mateo, Anabelle, Sammy and Luca.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luis and Esperanza Alfonso; her sister Yrma Sanchez (née Alfonso); and her beloved grandson Roberto "Bobby" Perez.

Ana Mirian found joy in life's simple pleasures—shopping at Walmart or JC Penney's brought a sparkle to her day just as much as going out for brunch or sipping Cafe con Leche while watching the news or tele-novelas. She took pride in keeping herself and her home tidy and welcoming. A true homebody at heart, she found fulfillment in being surrounded by family—always thinking of them with love that ran deep.

Known for always "keeping it real," Ana Mirian had an honest spirit that endeared her to many. Her selfless nature meant she was constantly looking out for others—especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—whose presence brought light into her life.

Her legacy is one of strength, devotion to family, unwavering faith and quiet perseverance. May the memory of Ana Mirian Rodriguez bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Nacida el 7 de Septiembre de 1939 en Cayo Mambí, Cuba, Ana Mirian era hija de Luis y Esperanza Alfonso. Desde muy joven, asumió el papel de una hermana mayor devota y llevó ese sentido de responsabilidad y cuidado a lo largo de su vida. Sus primeros años estuvieron marcados por un profundo compromiso con la familia, un valor que siguió siendo fundamental para su identidad.

Después de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en 1965, Ana Mirian ejemplificó la resiliencia y la determinación. Comenzó a trabajar en la fabricación y más tarde pasó al mantenimiento de centros de atención médica. Su sólida ética de trabajo y liderazgo la llevaron a ser una empleada ejemplar en el Hospital Elmhurst, donde sirvió con orgullo hasta su jubilación.
