LeRoy “Lee” F. Jarvis, 86, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday (January 13, 2017) at the Illinois Veteran’s Home.

Born January 7, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, LeRoy was the son of Elmer and Myrtle Coville Jarvis.  He married Jean Hensley of February 5, 1955, in Chicago.  She survives.

LeRoy served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Lee was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post No. 2377 and a member of the American Legion.  He was a self-employed carpenter for many years, until his retirement.  Lee enjoyed his leisure time and sitting outside in the sunshine with his wife in his later years.

Lee’s family was very important to him and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them.  He will most remembered for the unwavering support and love he had for anyone fortunate enough to call him Papa.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean: three children, Diana Pszotka (Michael) of Glen Ellyn, IL., Wilma J. Piper of Macomb, IL. And Daniel K. Nolan of Donnellson, IA.; eleven grandchildren and their spouses; twenty three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild due in July; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jarvis was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy, Dawn Leigh Jarvis; and five brothers.

Cremation has been accorded to Lee.  Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held Saturday morning, February 11, 2017 from 9:00 until 11:00 with Funeral Service at 11am at the Northlake Funeral Home.

Graveside services and burial to follow will be in Fairview Memorial Park.

Memorial may be made to the Illinois Veteran’s Home Activity Fund in Quincy, 1707 North 12th Street, Quincy, Illinois 62301.
